What are the Penalties for Arlington County DUI?
If you are convicted of DUI in Arlington County there are some very serious consequences. DUIs are criminal offenses and they stay on your criminal record forever. There are no expungements for DUI convictions.
All forms of DUI come with the possibility of jail time. How much jail time depends on whether you have a prior DUI, DWI or refusal conviction, your blood alcohol content at the station, whether there was a minor in the car, and many other factors.
All DUI convictions come with a minimum of a 12 month suspension of your right to drive. Restricted licenses may or may not be available depending on your record and your residency.
Anyone convicted of DUI or DWI will be required to complete the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP). The VASAP or ASAP program will be part of their probation.
DUIs also come with a maximum fine of $2,500, 6 points on your DMV record, and serious effects on your auto insurance.
However, just because being convicted of DUI comes with serious penalties that does not mean that you will be convicted or that you will necessarily go to jail. Call us today for a free consolation and we will be happy to let you know the likely outcome of your case.
